1.Can I meet the interpreters beforehand?
This is possible, but sometimes the interpreters are unavailable. The CG assignment manager ensures that all the assignment-related information is passed on to the interpreters after meeting you.
2.How do I confirm an interpreting quote?
All you need to do is sign the quote and agree to the general conditions of sale, stamp it with your company’s stamp and then send it back to us by fax or e-mail.
3.How do I get a quote?
We need all the logistical and content-related information regarding the meeting or event in order to provide you with an interpreting quote.
We will draw up an accurate quote for you within 24 hours.
4.How do you draw up a quote?
The cost of an interpreting assignment is based on the number of full days worked by the interpreter and the equipment used. CG’s prices include the coordination and on-site supervision of the interpreting assignment.
5.How long does it take for you to set up an interpreting team?
It is best to contact us at least three weeks before the event so that we can strike the right balance between choosing the best interpreters for the job and allowing them enough time to prepare thoroughly for the assignment. If your request if more urgent, we also have the means to put high-quality teams together with little prior notice, sometimes even within the hour!
6.What happens if the equipment used for simultaneous interpreting fails?
All equipment is systematically tested before it leaves the workshop. Backup equipment is always on hand should any problems arise.
7.What is the VAT rate for interpreting assignments?
VAT is charged at 19.6% for all translations and interpreting events in France.
There is no VAT charge for translations and interpreting events which take place outside France.
8.Which languages do you interpret?
We interpret all languages. For some less common languages a ‘double’ translation is necessary. This can involve a translation into English before translating into the target language (translation from French to Maltese, for example).
9.Why does a simultaneous interpreting require two interpreters?
Two interpreters are required in simultaneous interpreting, as the interpreter listens, analyses, translates and listens to the next sentence, all at the same time. This intense concentration requires two interpreters who take it in turns to interpret for 30-minute intervals in order to guarantee a quality interpretation.
